Changing the Hard Drive:

  • To replace the hard drive, first disconnect the laptop from the power source and remove the battery.
  • This will prevent potential damage.
  • Next, unscrew the screws securing the hard drive bay cover.
  • Usually, they are located on the bottom panel of the laptop.
  • Then, carefully remove the old hard drive, disconnecting it from the connector. Be careful not to damage the connector.
  • After that, install the new hard drive, connecting it to the aforementioned connector. Ensure it is securely seated.
  • Finally, secure the hard drive bay cover with the screws. It is important to tighten them enough, but not to overtighten.

Upgrading the RAM:

  • To replace RAM, first disconnect the laptop from the power source and remove the battery. This is definitely a crucial step for safety.
  • Next, unscrew the screws securing the RAM bay cover. It’s usually smaller than the hard drive bay cover.
  • Then, carefully remove the old memory modules by releasing the latches on the sides of the connectors. They will most likely pop up on their own.
  • After that, install the new memory modules, inserting them into the connectors until they click. Ensure they are firmly in place.
  • Finally, secure the RAM bay cover with the screws. Remember to tighten them properly.

Installing a New Keyboard:

  • To replace the keyboard, first disconnect the laptop from the power source and remove the battery. This is a necessary precaution.
  • Next, using a plastic pry tool, gently detach the keyboard from the case. Start at the corners and work your way around the edges.
  • Then, disconnect the keyboard ribbon cable from the motherboard. Be very careful as the ribbon cable is fragile.
  • After that, connect the new keyboard ribbon cable to the motherboard. Make sure it is correctly aligned.
  • Finally, install the new keyboard into the case, carefully snapping it into place. Ensure all edges are flush with the case.

Laptop Cleaning & Thermal Paste Application:

  • First of all, disconnect the laptop from the power source and remove the battery. This is a must before any disassembly.
  • Then, disassemble the laptop, following the manufacturer’s instructions. They are often available on the manufacturer’s website or in the user manual.
  • After that, use compressed air to remove dust from the internal components. Pay special attention to the fans and heatsinks.
  • Next, gently remove the old thermal paste from the CPU and GPU. Use a plastic tool or a soft cloth for this purpose.
  • Then, apply a thin and even layer of new thermal paste. It is important that the layer is very thin.
  • Finally, reassemble the laptop in reverse order. Carefully check that all parts are correctly positioned.
